How Quipt Home Medical patients enroll in and receive service & care text messages.
Text Messaging Program & Opt-In Disclosure
Program summary. Quipt Home Medical sends service and care-related text messages to established durable medical equipment (DME) patients who have given prior express consent. Messages cover equipment orders, supply/resupply reminders, delivery and appointment coordination, therapy-compliance check-ins, and answers to patient questions. No marketing or promotional content is sent. Message frequency is approximately 2–6 messages per month. Message and data rates may apply.
Enrolling in text messages is optional. Consent to receive texts is not required to purchase, receive equipment, create an account, or complete any transaction with Quipt Home Medical. A patient may decline and still receive full products and services. The opt-in is voluntary and separate from enrollment.
How patients opt in
Consent is optional and is collected separately from equipment enrollment. Quipt uses two voluntary opt-in paths — declining either one does not affect a patient’s ability to obtain equipment or services:
- Verbal express consent during equipment setup/enrollment or a clinical follow-up call. A respiratory therapist or care coordinator reads the consent script below and records the patient’s answer, date/time, and staff member in the patient-management platform before any text is sent.
- Written consent via a standalone, unchecked-by-default checkbox clearly labeled optional on the equipment intake / setup form. The checkbox is not required to complete enrollment and does not affect the products or services the patient receives.
- Confirmation. The platform sends a one-time opt-in confirmation text and blocks all outbound messages to any patient who has not affirmatively consented.
Verbal opt-in script (read verbatim by staff)
“Quipt Home Medical can text you about your equipment orders, resupply reminders, deliveries, setup, and therapy check-ins — about 2–6 messages per month. This is completely optional and is not required to receive your equipment or services. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to unsubscribe at any time. Terms: quipthomemedical.com/terms-of-use · Privacy: quipthomemedical.com/hipaa-privacy-policy. Would you like to receive these text messages — yes or no?”
The patient’s yes/no answer, date, time, and staff initials are logged in the platform as the consent record of proof.
